Musical talent is not something that I can claim, not even a little bit but I am really good at listening to it. Whenever I’m in a good mood or a bad mood I can find the music to fit me. It really should be no wonder then that I flip my ITunes on random when I am facing writer’s block, anyone else do the same thing? Do you ever find a song or a lyric that just grabs you and all you can do is hold on? It’s happened to me more times than I can count. This post being a perfect example, whenever I am looking to escape reality there is no man for me but Jimmy Buffett.
“He decided he wanted to live in a fantasy world and I thought what’s wrong with that?”-Buffett
Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That.
If Jimmy Buffett can make it as a Pirate, I can make it as a writer… who happens to enjoy a really great Margarita 😉
Is it 5pm yet?
almost every day, a song grabs me (jazz).lol
I must say, there is never a time when a hearty amount of caffeine, a shot of ginko biloba, and nice music are not the precursors to excellence.
Music is a huge part of my existence as a human and a writer. I love discovering new music and I have such a wide range of tastes that it surprises the kids of today…
MY FAVORITE album, by my favorite group (BLood, Sweat and Tears) was cut the weekend I first went out with my husband. I enjoy all kinds of music and I briefly worked for my cousin who did rock and roll ads. My daughter and I listened to “Father Is Child To The Man) by BS&T almost every day on the way to school.
So…No…you are NOT the ONLY one
Its always 5:00 pm somewhere 😀
I just love music – all kinds! And I find it really helpful in writing of poetry and other fiction – feeds the mind, life would be dead without a daily dose of music! 😀
Thanks for liking my book blog! I have my Pandora set for specific thoughts and chapters. Music (for me) is crucial to get in the mood. I can write without the music, but my stories are much stronger with it. Oh, and a glass of wine too.
Horror = Nine Inch Nails style (Filter, Chevelle, Tool, etc)
Love = classical & Sara MacLachlan stuff
Erotica = Timbaland, Rhianna, Usher style
Pivotal chapters = Plumb, BarlowGirl, Josh Groban
And my brain reset music is hands down, contemporary Christian.

There must be some place where it is beer o’clock
You can never go wrong with Jimmy Buffet! (The one singer my husband and I both agree on!) Thanks for liking my blog today, and it took me longer to find out I HAVE to write than it did you, so good for you. I know this because I am just now writing my first book, and I am older than dirt!
😀
Good luck in your endeavors, and I will enjoy checking out your blog.
I love that Jimmy Buffett can bring together everyone 🙂 Glad you found your writing, I will be watching your blog as well.

Ahaha, cheers! YES, I definitely get lyrics that stick with me– and perhaps more importantly, YES– you CAN be a writer! 🙂
My music preference is Smooth Jazz. When not listening to that there is always a tune playing in my head. Great blog. Thanks for visiting Life’s Little Surprises. Blessings.
Music does bring out the writer in all!

Life is too short not to follow your dreams. If we persist, sometimes we are fortunate enough to live them. However, if you don’t go after them, you will never know.
