A Bitter Ending

I did not shed a single tear. Perhaps it’s because I am simply to heartbroken to show emotion. The pain made worse because of how unexpected it was; seconds between us and our goal. It was snatched from us, ripped from us; leaving no one to blame but ourselves. Frozen, deflated, numb; five hours spent waiting for victory only to be crushed by defeat.

Alas, hope springs eternal, Go Broncos.

Friday Relaxation

HotTubGreece;Axioophotography

The first full week of the New Year, the first full week of school and more books on hand that I can possibly read. It is a fantastic yet daunting way to get the year rolling; the last few Friday posts have been all about finding inspiration, this one is not. After all the inspiration and hard work there has to be a reward otherwise what is the point? I have always enjoyed a nice warm bath and book to unwind after a long week, this is the ultimate version of that experience. Can you just imagine yourself in this cave hot tub in Santorini Greece unwinding with your favorite book? I can, Happy Friday Everyone!

At Night It Calls To Me

MardiGras

It takes a single moment; the blast of the accordion, the bass booming, the trumpet leading the trio.

I am transported to another place, another era, another realm.

The weather is hot, the air is sticky, jazz music is escaping onto the streets from every direction.

Sounds, Scents, Laughter; all linger in the air.

History flirts with Tragedy who seeks Revelry.

Bourbon St, Canal St, Decatur St.

~~~
Deep in the French Quarter my unknowingly lost soul will be found.
*The City of New Orleans will always hold a special place in my heart; I recommend listening to Buckwheat Zydeco “Marie, Marie” to feel the writing above, it encompasses it fully.
Double Life
20130107_170849Dusk approaches, the twilight appears;
For most the day winds down.
I am not most.
Once the fire sets fully,
The embers bring about another realm
Of creativity.
On the precipice of darkness
My passion reveals itself.
By candlelight my pen;
Searches,
Scratches,
Creates.
ArrowBookshelf
As most of you know I take special pride in putting together something particularly fun on Friday but lately I feel like I have fallen into a routine. I am most certainly not keeping it fresh or even fun enough which is why I chose the shelf above for my pick this week. This year is full of a lot of new things for me; such as a Masters level writing program starting Monday, don’t worry I will not slack on my blog, only my sleep. So taking a page out of that book (pun intended) I selected something a little more modern and outside of my comfort zone, the more I look at it the more I think you could make this special shelf work in any house that appreciates books. Happy Friday Everyone!
Nobody Is Perfect
Alex knew when she was wrong, while it very rarely happened, even she could make a mistake. Unfortunately for Alex whenever the rare transgression occurred it was never a small matter. Alex had been more than a jerk to poor John who quite honestly had the right to mock the mating habits of penguins. Who was that guy? Apparently even creepers can be extremely good looking, who knew?
John had been creative in his attempts to apologize, Alex had to step up her game. A home-cooked meal of his favorite food, enchiladas, would work but it would be a lame attempt indeed. She needed to be sweet, apologetic and perhaps a little bit vulnerable. He would have no choice but to accept her apology then; he never could kick her while she was down, a trend she hoped to continue.
The idea came to her after one too many google searches, she would make him a craft. She would paint him a new margarita glass of apology. The man loved his margaritas. Alex was a terrible artist but it was thoughtful, the man didn’t have a chance. Friendship repaired.
