It’s not dark- there are people and lights everywhere. It’s so cold, the type of chill that gets into your bones and takes hold.
She is screaming at the top of her lungs. No one pays attention as they walk by. Unfortunately for her, she has no idea the yelling has made her beyond comprehension.
No one even looks, afraid of what might happen if eye contact is made. They don’t know, that’s all she longs for, a human connection.
Both hope that she will just collapse out of exhaustion. It won’t be long now, she can’t possibly carry on, can she?
Put us out of our misery, all of us.
