Do It, Differently.

upside-down-book-shelf-450x262

It is the end of another long and successful week, while I was looking for fun bookshelves for my Friday post I came across this gem. Yes, that is an upside bookshelf which seemingly holds the books onto it, I remain skeptical. Either way it is fun and imaginative; sometimes it is better to try something completely outside of the ordinary, who knows what amazing idea you may come up with? It may not work or it may work beyond your expectations but you have to think outside of the box or even perhaps upside down to get to those ideas. Happy Friday Everyone!

Legacy

20130117_105838

I may not know where I am going but I do know I want to make you proud.

It was more than just a slogan; a life motto: Intelligent, Beautiful, Modest.

I don’t do it for you, I do it because of you and what you wanted me to be.

The risks, the reward, the pain, the joy.

In the end your absence has grown, grown to appreciation for what was, what can be.

It does not mean I wouldn’t do anything for one more conversation; a room full of familiar scents; Pall Malls, Black Coffee.

You are with me, a part of me; if I want to hear you I can in my actions, in my thoughts and in his music.

Forever Grateful.

Ramblings of a Writer

cigar

~ If the end of the journey is unknown, how do you know where to start? Does it matter?

~ I try to write all of my thoughts onto paper, but I never seem to get it right. Is that wrong?

~ If you have a story tell it, you never know who might need to hear it most. That person could be you.

~ Ramble, write, erase, create, get frustrated; the end will justify the means.

~ If you stop pretending to be satisfied with what you’ve done; your hunger could take you to places you never thought you’d go.

Friday Relaxation

HotTubGreece;Axioophotography

The first full week of the New Year, the first full week of school and more books on hand that I can possibly read. It is a fantastic yet daunting way to get the year rolling; the last few Friday posts have been all about finding inspiration, this one is not. After all the inspiration and hard work there has to be a reward otherwise what is the point? I have always enjoyed a nice warm bath and book to unwind after a long week, this is the ultimate version of that experience. Can you just imagine yourself in this cave hot tub in Santorini Greece unwinding with your favorite book? I can, Happy Friday Everyone!

Your Inspiration in Lights

ArrowBookshelf

As most of you know I take special pride in putting together something particularly fun on Friday but lately I feel like I have fallen into a routine. I am most certainly not keeping it fresh or even fun enough which is why I chose the shelf above for my pick this week. This year is full of a lot of new things for me; such as a Masters level writing program starting Monday, don’t worry I will not slack on my blog, only my sleep. So taking a page out of that book (pun intended) I selected something a little more modern and outside of my comfort zone, the more I look at it the more I think you could make this special shelf work in any house that appreciates books. Happy Friday Everyone!

-If you want more specific information on this particular shelf I tracked it down to StellaBleuDesigns on Etsy

Taking a Different Route for the New Year

Frost; Road Not Taken

My birthday happens to fall on the final day of the year; it is a great time for me to enjoy the successes I have achieved over the past twelve months. The last year has been a very important one for me, but I cannot simply enjoy what I have done because there is so much left for me to do. I am energized, excited and ready to attack the new year with my writing.

The following is a response poem to Robert Frost’s Road Not Taken to describe my path for 2013:

Does it only happen once

Will I really only get one, single

Chance?

I will not, cannot, believe it.

Each day I will look down both of those paths,

I will contemplate them, stare them down.

Each day I will make the choice.

It may not be the best choice,

It may be the easy choice,

It could be the worst choice,

But I will try again.

I do know how it will end,

It will be my own path,

A path no one else dared to wonder down,

And,

It will make all the difference.

A Very Cozy Friday

Library-with-Fireplace

The temperatures are dropping, the end of the year is coming and all I want to do is curl up in front of a nice warm fire-place and let my book take me away. In beautiful Colorado it has yet to hit above 32 degrees this week and while I love the beauty of winter I get tired of the constant shiver when the cold is not interrupted by the usual sunshine. It is time for a final dose reading and relaxation before a new, exciting and action packed year begins. Happy Friday Everyone!
