Where the Magic Happens

Image 2One of the new categories I am introducing is called “Writing Places”. It is going to be a a photographic showcase of all the places I do my writing and all of the places I dream about doing my writing.

It occurred to me that I should probably show where I currently do most of my writing, I like to call it my hot mess desk. As you can see there are notebooks, laptops and general mayhem. I make notes everywhere and never seem to focus on any single project for more than a few moments at a time. I wonder if I could actually write in an organized space?

Where do you all do most of your writing? At home, at some exotic location? Is it neat and tidy or if possible is it even more chaotic than my current space?

As long as your writing I am sure the space is just write for your creative flow.

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

Heading Out To Sea

ShipsGuess who’s back?

It was nice to step a way from here for a week and gain some perspective on what I want to do next.

As you can tell I have completely changed the layout of my blog, don’t worry some of the usual posts will still be coming but I will be introducing some brand new categories starting tomorrow night.

What I am most excited about is that I am going to start putting snippets of my works in progress up here for the world to see; I hope to receive good feedback and helpful criticism. I really want to continue to make this blog more and more interactive.

Thoughts? Ideas? Suggestions? Please feel free to share them.

Thank you for your patience, I can’t wait to see which way the wind takes our ship.

Taking A Break

I just wanted to take a moment to THANK everyone for all of their support, we hit 1,500 followers last night. It’s not just the numbers that are exciting but it is the honest feedback that grabs my attention most.

I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all of your thoughts and words of encouragement.

I also want to take a moment and say that I truly appreciate all of the awards people have nominated me for, it is humbling and encouraging if only there was more time in the day.

I can’t wait to see what the next few months bring, I am planning on some changes and updates as I will finally have extra time to focus on my writing at the end of the next two weeks.

Let’s go great places together!

Hanging By A Thread

stringbookshelfSometimes it really does feel like you are hanging on by just a thread.

This photo shows you that it can be beautiful thing.

Embrace the string and let it lead you where it may.

You have no idea how far you can stretch that thread until you try.

Go for it.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Fun in the Sun Friday

Summer Wildflowers Above Lower Blue Lake

Something weird has been happening in Colorado the last few days, the weather has been amazing. We have seemingly with perhaps only a few minor hiccups remaining left winter behind. It is about damn time, I love winter but it has its place which should promptly end some time in March.

The nice weather naturally led me outside to frolic, yes I still frolic at my age. While I was out frolicking something funny happened. I realized I had missed almost all, wait I am always honest with you all, I missed pretty much all of my writing goals. I did not sit down for one minute last weekend and work on my blog and any other various project for that matter. Instead I focused intentionally on fun on the patio and unintentionally on sunburns on my shoulders.

This got me to thinking also a scary thought after a long week at work, how can I make sure that the weather of summer does not lure me away from my writing? If you want to be a writer it’s simple you have to write. For me the best thing to do is to set some summer goals. That and maybe find a new patio where I can not only enjoy the sun but bring my laptop.

My Summer Goals-

1. Edit my two novels.

2. Finish a very, very rough draft of my memoir.

3. Expand my Blog.

4. Read 25 completely new books.

5. Still enjoy some fun in the Sun 😉

What are your goals?

Final Word Count- 38,941

Target Goal- 50,000

So close yet so very far……

I will guarantee this much, I am going to finish this story. Hell I am even going to edit it.

I am real proud of it and the progress I made despite missing the word count (curse my competitive streak).

It’s full of a little thing that I like to call potential.
