Rope Lights

Sometimes even the light needs support.

Nothing more solid than an old tree firmly rooted along the riverbed.

It offers a platform, a blank canvas for the light to manipulate.

With each passing moment the sun sets further to the west allowing the light to come to the forefront.

Then and only then,

If and only if

you are willing.

The sparkle will show the unrepeatable contours of the bark.

Easily missed but it’s shelter allows for everything else.

Never underestimate the shell in nature, or

in you.

Summer Changes

I think what I like most about the summer is its ability to be dramatic. It can be sunny and cheerful one moment and then dark and destructive the next.

You think you can see the storm coming but you can never be sure until it arrives.

There is no preparation only experience.

It strikes me as the right way to approach the world

and

for me, for tonight, writing.

Each Day

Each day when I wake up I know there will be a path waiting for me.

Some days I get to chose it, others I don’t.

Today was smooth but tomorrow can’t promise me anything.

Sometimes I walk along the edges in hopes of seeing something, anything.

Each night when I go to bed I close my eyes dreaming of the one path I can’t find.

As long as my eyes open each morning I will go to bed hopeful.

In the meantime I will enjoy the walk.

Recharging From Within

Every once and a while it is nice to just sit back, relax, and recharge. I find that if I don’t get my mind a mini vacation I can become creatively stifled.

If you could just sit anywhere, relax, and recharge where would it be?

(This picture came from my backyard)

Park Bench

It’s an interesting place to sit.

Not a place where you can watch the people meander along.

No it’s a place that forces you to look inside.

The serenity at the top of the mountain allows for peace within.

Negativity evaporates into the sky to be lost forever.

Possibility like the view appears to be endless.

Too bad benches like this don’t appear in front of me more frequently.

Take me back one more time.

I just need five more minutes.

I just need.

An Unmarked Path

Even in the thickest of forests where you cannot decipher where one tree starts and another one ends there is a path.

A break in the intimidation, calling you to explore.

No footprints speak of those who have gone before.

You can only see just the beginning.

It can take you deep inside with nothing to promise.

Irresistible to you inner adventurer but more irresistible when it comes to your need to run away.

Go ahead, wander in for a moment or two.

If you lose your edge you can always turn back but remember your steps will not leave a mark.

Drizzling Darkness

The weekend is coming to close with the light drizzle of an all day rain.

Is it an omen for the week ahead or will the sun replace the floodlight to illuminate something special?
